Privacy Policy

African Daisy Studio is an independent publication based in Canada that operates africandaisystudio.com. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, why, who else is involved, and the choices and rights you have. You don't need an account to read the site, and we never ask you for your name, address or health information.

What We Collect

Visit statistics

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to see which pages are read and how fast they load. They count page views, the page you came from, your country, browser, operating system and device type, and page loading times. They don't use cookies, and they don't build a profile of you or follow you to other sites. We only look at the totals.

Server logs

Our host, Vercel, automatically records technical information about requests to the site, such as IP address, time, page requested and browser, to keep the site running and secure. These logs are kept for a short period and are not used to identify readers.

Emails you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply, and we don't add you to any mailing list.

Advertising and Cookies

The site is free to read because it shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and the advertising partners it works with may use cookies, similar technologies and your device's identifiers to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure how ads perform, and prevent fraud. Where allowed, ads may be personalized based on your activity on this and other sites.

• The other companies that may serve or measure ads through Google are listed in Google's list of ad technology providers.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them; you'll simply see ads that aren't personalized.

Your Consent Choices (UK, EEA and Switzerland)

If you visit from the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, a consent message from Google, a certified consent management platform, asks for your choice before advertising cookies are used. You can accept, choose purposes and partners under “Manage options”, or decline where that option is offered. Ads may still appear without consent, but they won't be personalized. You can change your choice at any time through the privacy and cookie settings link the message provides, or by clearing this site's cookies, which brings the message back on your next visit.

Why We Use Information

• To understand which articles are useful and improve the site (our legitimate interest in running a useful publication).

• To answer your emails (to respond to your request).

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we don't share it except with the services named in this policy or when the law requires it.

These companies may process information outside your country, including in the United States, under their own safeguards for international transfers. Articles link to outside sources such as health bodies and journals; we aren't responsible for those sites' privacy practices.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how it's used, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of personalized advertising. This includes rights under Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, and US state privacy laws such as California's.

Because we don't collect names or accounts, most of what's held about a visit sits with Google and Vercel, and you can use the controls above. For anything we hold, such as an email you sent, write to hello@africandaisystudio.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

You can also complain to a data protection authority: the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or the authority in your EU country.

How Long Information Is Kept

Analytics totals are kept for as long as they help us understand the site. Server logs are kept briefly by Vercel. Emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with your message. Advertising cookies last as long as Google and its partners set them, unless you delete them sooner.

Children

This site is written for adults and isn't directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If what we collect or the services we use change, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
